1.1. The purpose of this document is to define uniform Quality and technical requirements relative to part
marking using \"Data Matrix symbology\" (2D bar coding). 2. SCOPE
2.1. Component drawings shall specify the requirement to apply the marking. 2.1.1.
This document has been reviewed and approved for use with Victory components as well as ATV and UV fuel systems.

3.1. Data Matrix Symbology–2D bar coding
3.2. Quiet Zone – the blank margin of the label around the matrix 4. RESPONSIBILITY
4.1. It is the responsibility of the Design Engineering team to identify parts requiring direct marking on the print
for the part. 4.2. It is the vendor's responsibility to comply with the marking requirements outlined in this specification. 5. SPECIFICATION 5.1. General Marking 5.1.1. 5.1.2. 5.1.3. 5.1.4. 5.1.5. 5.1.6.
Rows and columns connected with information capacity shall be in accordance with the ECC200 Data Matrix \"Symbol Attributes\".
Matrix may be square or rectangular within ECC200 requirements. Square is preferred for easier reading.
The quiet zone around the matrix shall be equal to or greater than one (1) cell size.
If the marking is made on a round/curved surface, the symbol coverage shall be less than 16% of the diameter (or 5% of circumference).
Angular deviation of 90 degree plane between row and column shall not exceed +/- 7 degrees. Application of the marking can be done using laser etching, chemical etching or deposition, and printing, which is typically ink jet technology.

The location of the Data Matrix part marking shall be defined by the part/assembly print.
If a label is used, the adhesives used shall be a removable type pressure sensitive elastomer. The adhesive should have a moderately high initial tack, high level of ultimate adhesive, and allow for clean removal. Application of label shall be wrinkle free to assure readability.

Bar codes must meet ANSI Standard X 3.182, Grade \"C\" or better. The expected readability shall not be less than 95% first time reading. All characteristics shall be verified during the First Article Inspection (FAIR).
A Quality Assurance Plan should be in place to check any deviation of those characteristics. Marking equipment should be monitored through a maintenance plan which ensures sufficient preventive/scheduled maintenance to avoid marking outside of allowable limits.
Any non-conforming marking shall be submitted to the manufacturer of the part for part disposition.
5.3. Detailed Programming Specification 5.3.1. 5.3.2. 5.3.3. 5.3.4.
Bar codes should be created in the Data Matrix ECC200 format.
Should conform to the \"Bar Code Symbology Standard for Data Matrix Bar Codes. ANSI/AIM BC11 and ISO/IEC 16022.
